Saturday August 3rd clubgowi newsletter #1
Saturday, August 3
We already have three previews for this day, written on Thursday, all reproduced below, with only one additional selection at the moment.
I'll be sending out J-League stats updates at halftime at 11:00 in the UK around 11:50 (midweek for example), very simple but I use it myself so you can stay.
The email will arrive at 13:00 and will be about MLS football and possibly other events.
I'm 95% sure I'm going to Reading vs Ipswich this afternoon (see below) and there are contacts in Port Vale vs Brentford, QPR vs Sheffield Wednesday and possibly Millwall vs Wicked City so I'll give it a try. rest time message for those interested (15.50) Send one or two of them.
Championship: Reading-Ipswich Town
I think the difference with the royals today is very small, they always start slow, even in their 2011-12 championship campaign they lost four of their first six games and were second from bottom, they only won on November 17th last season and were able to not win for seven years.
Boss Nigel Adkins is a bit of a fitness obsession and works incredibly hard for his players in preseason. Sometimes it's bad luck early in the season, teams can train extra and then get lazy early in the campaign before reaping the rewards at the end of the season, especially with France's Gwingham, we've talked about that. At Southampton, his team went 1-1-8 in their first 10 Premier League matches and contracts had a hard time adjusting.
Some of the new arrivals at Reading failed to impress last season as the Royals performed poorly for both clubs at Bristol and recently lost to Madrid near Swansea City and he will be set up sooner if we find a possible cause . . The campaign, two weeks ahead of last season's schedule, is even more against them.
However, Town went undefeated for most of the preseason thanks to a string of impressive performances, likely against minor league opposition. However, they developed a habit of winning under Mick McCarthy, who turned the club around by taking over the club last November. City finished last in the league with a 1–4–8 record and went on to win 15 times to secure mid-table. MM is not a Premier League manager but he knows the division and has managed Sunderland and Wolverhampton Wanderers in the top flight. His city team looks a bit stronger this time around and could be in contention for a potential playoff spot. They must be hard to beat. The signings include Reading midfielder J. Thabo, Scotland centre-back Christoph Burr and midfielder Cole Schuss. This is exactly the type of player that McCarthy is. Previously, David McGoldrick, who scored 35 first-round games and 20 league goals last season, made a permanent move for Bristol City's Paul Anderson, who is looking to rebuild his career after being very well received at 24. The Liverpool teenager showed signs of a very weak City side last season and could be a good addition. Ryan Tankliffe and Frederick Wesley came from Manchester United, with whom MM has a good relationship, or from previous management.
Of Adkins' three summer signings, central midfielder Daniel Williams was injured, Wayne Bridge was recovering at the age of 32, but he played for Brighton almost the entire season, the first time he had played over 23 league games since 2003. -04 (!) Season, and Wriston Drenth is overweight and doesn't exercise enough!
The hosts haven't scored at home in five games and while they could have a good season, they were far from a top game last season and it may take time for them to get used to the Football League again and gain confidence. Unit 25 Ipswich Town +0.5 goals 2.12 Asian line / Ibramarket.
Congratulations.
